Coroner identifies 18-year-old killed in six-vehicle crash
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — A local coroner has released the name of a woman who died in a six-vehicle crash Thursday morning.
Bonneville County Coroner Rick Taylor identified her as Nykinzi Thomas, 18, of Basalt. She died due to a traumatic injury from the accident, Taylor said. Learn more about her on her GoFundMe page.
The six-vehicle crash happened just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of South Yellowstone Highway and West 49th South in Idaho Falls.
A 2013 Ford Taurus, driven by Thomas, entered the intersection and was hit by a westbound 2000 Kenworth semi-truck with two trailers, driven by a 27-year-old man from Blackfoot, according to Idaho State Police.
Both vehicles crossed into the eastbound lanes, hitting four other vehicles. Click here for more information.

Thomas was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Everyone was wearing seatbelts. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
