INL building briefly evacuated due to report of suspicious package
Published atIDAHO FALLS — A building on the Idaho National Laboratory Idaho Falls campus was briefly evacuated Thursday due to a report of a suspicious package.
INL spokeswoman Lori McNamara tells EastIdahoNews.com several hundred employees were evacuated from the Engineering Research Office Building at 2525 Fremont Avenue at about 2:30 p.m.
“The fire department responded to a report of a suspicious package,” McNamara said. “Out of an abundance of caution, the employees were evacuated.”
The Idaho Falls Fire Department, Idaho Falls Police Department and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office responded and searched the building during the evacuation.
After a thorough investigation, it was determined there was “no emergency,” according to McNamara.
Employees were allowed to return at about 3:15 p.m.
