CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR — A man got too close to a bull elk while in his vehicle and ended up paying the price when the animal rammed into his front tire.

The encounter was caught on camera and posted on Instagram by @tylerterryberry and was later shared on AccuWeather’s Facebook page on April 17, 2025.

The Facebook caption said the incident happened on a Colorado road. Video shows an elk standing in the road as a car approaches the animal.

“Watch out buddy,” a man is heard saying. “Wanna fight?”

The animal stays on the road as the man driving rolls his window down and gets closer to the animal.

“He might,” a woman in the car says.

The driver continues to drive at a slow pace but when the animal appears to give a slight nod, the driver stops his car right next to the animal. He asks the elk again, “You wanna go bud?”

The elk stares in the driver’s direction for a few seconds before the car starts moving. Just as it begins to move, the animal rams into the car’s front driver-side tire, and the sound of air immediately leaking out of the tire can be heard in the video.

“There you go,” the woman in the car says in a frustrated tone.

“I bet he won’t ask that question again,” one of the video’s comments reads.
