BLACKFOOT — Lace up your racing shoes and get ready to run, walk, or trot in this case for the 15th annual Tater Trot, happening Saturday, October 11, at Jensen Grove. Races begin at 8 a.m.

The family-friendly 5K and 10K run and walk is one of Blackfoot’s most beloved fall traditions, raising funds for the Rotary Club of Blackfoot and the Community Dinner Table.

Participants can look forward to a festive morning filled with music, raffles, a silent auction, and of course, potatoes.

“We have a super team that has been working hard to get flyers out and collect raffle and silent auction items,” said race chairperson Colleen Hancock. “Carol Mecham’s Minky Blankets always spark a bidding war, and this year they’ll be part of the silent auction.”

Hancock said runners and walkers will be treated to a hot potato bar upon crossing the finish line, courtesy of the Community Dinner Table Board of Directors.

Kids who participate will also take home a medal. Local DJ Jeff Olson, owner of DJ Compass, will once again provide the soundtrack for the morning, keeping the energy high for both racers and spectators.

“And don’t forget about the coveted Golden Spud trophy — awarded to the top team in the 5K walk. Glanbia has claimed the prize two years running, but Hancock says other teams are eager to steal the spotlight…and the spud,” added Hancock.

The Rotary Club of Blackfoot, founded in 1919, is part of a global organization of 46,000 clubs dedicated to literacy, health, hunger relief and more.

The Community Dinner Table in Blackfoot brings together local churches, civic groups, and volunteers to fight hunger in Bingham County. The nonprofit runs a weekly food pantry and provides hot community dinners every Tuesday from November through March, ensuring families have access to nutritious meals.
