SALT LAKE CITY — The son of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Martha Cosby has died of a possible drug overdose.
Emergency crews were called to a home near 300 E. Capitol Oaks Lane about 6:15 p.m. Monday regarding a person suffering from a possible overdose. Shortly after arriving, officers notified dispatchers that the man was deceased, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Greg Wilking.
Police have identified the man as Robert Clinton Cosby, Jr., 23, son of Mary Cosby. His body was taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm his cause of death.
Cosby confirmed her son’s death in a social media post on Wednesday.
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
According to state court records, Robert Cosby had a series of domestic violence-related cases in which he took a plea in abeyance and was released from the Salt Lake County Jail earlier this month. But on Feb. 5, he was charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault and assault, third-degree felonies, in an alleged domestic violence incident from 2024 that his wife did not report at the time.
Robert Cosby “became upset with her when she flushed his drugs down the toilet,” according to the charges.
He was also charged in an earlier case, accusing him of illegally providing shelter to a runaway juvenile. That case was later dismissed.
