IDAHO FALLS —- A 41-year-old man is facing felony kidnapping charges after court documents allege he grabbed another man by the neck, stuffed him into the trunk of a car and forced him to clean his apartment after being questioned.
Documents state that on Feb. 17, officers with the Idaho Falls Police Department spoke with a victim regarding an incident that occurred on Feb. 13 involving Christopher Pena.
According to the victim, Pena came to his home, grabbed his neck and told him, “We do this the easy way or the hard way, motherf*****.”
The document states the victim was then walked over to his own car, a Subaru Impreza. Pena put the victim inside the trunk of the vehicle and drove to a home near Elm Street.
The victim said he was afraid of getting hurt if he did not comply with Pena.
Once Pena had parked, the victim said he was taken inside and told to sit on the couch while Pena spoke with three other people.
The document states that a woman had accused the victim of raping her by putting an anxiety medication in her breakfast years ago.
The victim said that he denied that this had occurred and was struck by another individual, who then pulled out a pistol. The individual racked the slide of the gun, and a bullet was ejected before the gun was aimed at the victim’s head and the gunman threatened to kill him.
The document states that the victim was allowed to leave but was later taken back to Pena’s apartment. The victim said he contacted a friend, who later on contacted the police.
The victim said he was cleaning Pena’s apartment while he was waiting for the police. He said he saw a sawed-off shotgun in a closet.
An arrest warrant was issued on March 5, and Pena appeared before Magistrate Judge Michael Kirkham, where he was charged with one felony count of second-degree kidnapping. No others have been charged in connection with the incident, according to court records.
He is scheduled to appear before Magistrate Judge Jacob Workman for a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. on March 20.
Pena is also facing felony charges for trafficking methamphetamine, and two misdemeanor charges for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Though Pena has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
