POCATELLO – With east Idaho’s prolonged heat wave showing no signs of letting up, the splash pad at Pocatello’s O.K Ward Park is finally back open to help families cool off.

The splash pad is back in operation after being temporarily closed because of a significant electrical issue caused by the July 4 power outage, which occurred when a vehicle struck a power pole.

City officials said replacement parts arrived earlier this week, allowing Parks and Recreation crews to complete the repairs. Staff also balanced the water chemistry to ensure the splash pad is safe and ready for public use.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for some fun in the sun,” the city said in a statement, thanking residents for their patience during the closure.

O.K. Ward Park’s splash pad is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the summer season.

Additionally, the splash pad at O.K. Ward Park in Chubbuck is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. throughout the season.
