Rigby band with 1 million streams launches cross-country tour

RIGBY – For the last four years, Cassius Moore and his band, Anyone Awake, have played throughout Idaho. Their 2024 album has garnered more than a million online streams and now they’re embarking on a 40-day DIY tour across the country in hopes of landing a full-time career.
In a conversation with EastIdahoNews.com, Moore, 19, of Rigby, says “it’s pretty insane” to think about all the opportunities he’s had to travel and perform the last several years. He’s excited to begin this cross-country adventure performing in venues he’s only dreamed of playing.
“We’ve been promised a stage at all these places,” says Moore. “Our first stop in Provo is with a band called Misconception. They’re offering their backyard for a free show. We’ll be posting on TikTok and Instagram (throughout the tour) hoping that people come and see us.”
Moore says he’s particularly excited about a stop in Chicago at the Subterranean.
“We were looking at pictures of that. It’s just got a vibe to it. The Sultan Room in Brooklyn, New York (is another one) that’s just crazy! We’re about to hop on that stage and just go for it,” he says.
Moore says he was a sophomore at Rigby High School when all of this got started. He remembers calling his best friend, Sam Butterfield, to ask if he wanted to start a band. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of a ride.
The band’s name is a reference to Moore’s struggle with fitting in as a high school student.
“Anyone Awake feels like something you’d text in a group chat late at night when you’re overthinking things and don’t feel like you have a place,” Moore explains. “It’s a callout to people who have ever felt that way.”
Moore’s interest in music stems back to early childhood. He started playing Guitar Hero at age 5 and has always been an AC/DC fan. During a vacation in Hawaii at age 11, he bought his first instrument — a ukulele.
Two years later, he picked up a guitar and was hooked for life.

“Something clicked and it just made a lot of sense to me,” Moore recalls.
Members of Anyone Awake will be traveling with The Stone Popes, another local band, on the tour. They bought a beat up white van, which they’ve been preparing for the eight-man journey.
Moore says Valley Glass in Idaho Falls donated the labor to install a new windshield and the money they saved will pay for food costs.
Moore says he’s feeling optimistic about the band’s future, and hopes to return in glory and play a show at Mountain America Center one day.
“We’ve had a couple record labels talk to us before. Most of them just want to see us do better,” Moore says. “(The purpose for) a lot of this tour is to prove to ourselves and to people in the industry … that we can do this.”
