POCATELLO — An evening of music, art and candlelight comes to Pocatello’s Historic Fire Station on Friday as KIND Conservatory kicks off its 2026-27 concert season.

The gala will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Historic Fire Station, 210 N. Arthur Ave.

The opening concert, entitled “New Light,” will feature soprano Jordan Bowman and pianist Dr. Natalia Lauk performing a selection of opera, classical music and musical theater pieces exploring themes of women and love.

The program includes works by Mozart, Rossini, Dvořák, Rachmaninoff and Jeanine Tesori.

Guests are invited to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to browse artwork, enjoy refreshments and small plates, and socialize before the performance. A pre-concert talk begins at 7 p.m., followed by the concert at 7:30 p.m.

But the evening is about more than music.

Lauk said ticket sales will benefit KIND Conservatory, a nonprofit music school in Pocatello that makes quality music education accessible through scholarships and performance opportunities.

“The concert series also supports the annual GEMS Piano Competition, which brings talented young pianists from across Idaho, including Boise, to Pocatello,” Lauk said.

The competition, which continues a tradition established by Musicians West, will celebrate its 27th year in 2027.

Participants have the opportunity to perform on a professional stage, receive feedback from experienced judges, attend masterclasses and compete for monetary awards.

“New Light” is the first of four performances planned for KIND Conservatory’s Candlelight Music season.

The series continues with “Winter Fire” on Dec. 4, a Valentine’s concert on Feb. 13, and the Candlelight Gala on May 14.

Tickets for Friday’s performance are available online here.
