ITD, Idaho State Police offering free winter driving classes in local cities
Published at | Updated at
RIGBY — Winter driving in eastern Idaho can be unpredictable, with snow, ice and rapidly changing road conditions creating challenges for even the most experienced motorists.
To help drivers prepare for the season ahead, the Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Police are teaming up once again to offer free winter driving safety classes at four locations across eastern Idaho in November.
The annual classes are designed to help motorists navigate hazardous winter conditions with greater confidence and learn practical techniques to stay safe behind the wheel.

Topics will include preparing vehicles for winter weather, choosing proper equipment, defensive driving techniques and safely sharing the road with snowplows.
Participants will hear directly from Idaho State Police troopers and ITD snowplow operators, who bring firsthand experience navigating Idaho’s highways and responding to emergencies during severe winter weather.
Although the classes are open to drivers of all ages and experience levels, they are especially beneficial for teenagers, new drivers and those unfamiliar with Idaho’s sometimes harsh winter conditions, according to ITD spokesperson Sky Buffat.
