IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls School District 91 officials confirmed late Friday evening that there was no evidence that a firearm had been brought to Eagle Rock Middle School that day.

Earlier on Friday, the school had sent an alert to parents about a student making a threat to bring a firearm to school. As a result, three schools in the district were put on hall check.

Idaho Falls Police investigated the threat and confirmed that the student who allegedly made the threat does not have access to a firearm, according to a news release from District 91. Based on the information available at this time, IFPD does not believe there was a credible threat to students.

The student in question was arrested; however, school officials say it was for a separate offense related to a fight earlier this week.

“District 91 and IFPD take all reports seriously. Student and staff safety is our top priority, and we appreciate the cooperation of everyone at Eagle Rock, Ethel Boyes, and Skyline today as we initiated a hall check,” District 91 Superintendent Karla LaOrange said in a news release.
