UPDATE:

Fire officials say the outage was caused by a crash at 400 North and 3700 East in Jefferson County. A car hit a transmission power line.

UPDATE:

As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday power had been restored to all but 239 customers.

ORIGINAL STORY:

REXBURG — Seven Rocky Mountain Power substations are down due to an unknown malfunction, which has disrupted power in east Idaho.

The transmission interruption has resulted in a loss of power for nearly 10,500 customers in Idaho Falls, Rigby, Rexburg, St. Anthony and Ashton.

The power went down around 2:55 p.m.

Rocky Mountain Power officials say crews are working to fix the problem, but they do not have an estimated restoration time.

Power is expected to be returned to customers gradually as power is renewed at each substation.
