Pro Image Sports to close doors in Pocatello as mall faces demolition

POCATELLO — After a decade of serving local sports fans, Pro Image Sports will close its Pine Ridge Mall location on June 1, 2025.
The closure comes as the mall is slated for demolition to make way for a new 128,000-square-foot Target store, part of a greater redevelopment plan to transform the site into an open-air shopping center.
The redevelopment of Pine Ridge Mall by SimonCRE, an Arizona-based development firm, has led several local businesses to seek new locations due to increased rents and reduced retail spaces in the new open-air format.

However, store manager Sam Park said that the Pocatello location will not reopen elsewhere in the city.
“We’re closing for good in Pocatello. We want to thank the community for a decade of business,” Park said.

To mark the closure, the store will host a blowout sale featuring merchandise from its Utah stores and offering significant discounts on licensed sports apparel.
“There will be great deals on hoodies, t-shirts, hats, accessories, and our pro-sports apparel. All merchandise is authentic licensed sports products. No knock-offs,” said Park.
Pro Image Sports was founded in 1985 by brothers Chad and Kevin Olsen in Salt Lake City, Utah, and began franchising a year later. The franchise has grown to over 150 locations nationwide and specializes in licensed professional and collegiate sports apparel and accessories.
The Pocatello store was opened by Jake Riley, a Pocatello native and now CEO of Pro Image Sports. Riley aimed to bring the franchise to his hometown, contributing to the local economy and providing a destination for sports enthusiasts.
Park, who has managed the Pocatello location for the past five years, said he’s proud of the store’s success and grateful for the opportunity. He’ll soon be relocating to help open a new Pro Image Sports store in a busy mall in San Antonio, Texas.
“Malls are still very much thriving in other parts of the country,” he said.

Pro Image Sports’ closing marks the end of a chapter for local fans who’ve turned to the store for team gear and game day essentials over the past decade.
As Target prepares to move in and the Pine Ridge Mall makes way for redevelopment, the closure highlights the progress and changing face of retail in Pocatello.
