Florida Man Arrested, Accused of Killing, Decapitating Mother

Jacob Ammentorp Lund/iStock/Thinkstock(OLDSMAR, Fla.) — Police have arrested a Florida man and charged him with murder after his mother was killed on New Year’s Eve.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the brother of the suspect called authorities on Wednesday night to report that his brother had killed their mother and cut her head off. Deputies arrived at the scene to find the woman’s body outside of the home near the garbage cans.
Police created a perimeter to search for the suspect, Christian Gomez, 23. He was later spotted riding a bicycle in the area and was taken into custody following a brief foot chase.
The Sheriff’s Office says it has recovered an axe that they believe is the murder weapon.
An investigation into the murder is ongoing.
