Wall Street Closes with Slight Losses

tarabird/iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — A roller-coaster day on Wall Street saw the three major indices post slight losses one day after dramatic drops.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 27.55 to 17,635.39.
The Nasdaq slipped to 4,849.94, down 9.86 from its open, while the S&P 500 closed at 2,040.24, a loss of 3.92.
On Wednesday the Federal Trade Commission announced charges against satellite television provider DirecTV for allegedly misleading customers about the cost of its programming.
The Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee will meet for two days next week. One topic of conversation may be the potential increase of interest rates. For months, the Fed has said it would be “patient” before increasing rates.
