IDAHO FALLS — The long awaited Idaho Falls Events center is coming to town and people are excited.

“I absolutely look forward to using it with my kids, I love supporting the arts,” resident Alexandra Chapman said.

After years of planning and economic studies, the Idaho Falls Auditorium District is moving forward with a $35 million, 23 acre development at Snake River Landing.

“All around it’s a multipurpose events center, and it really will affect the community in positive ways,” Auditorium District Chairwoman Cindy Ozaki said.

The center should bring jobs, concerts, family events, shows and more to the community

Last month, the Idaho Falls City Council approved the annexation for the events center, which was a major step forward for the project.

“The annexation moved the land that was donated by Ball Ventures from the unincorporated area the county, into the city,” Executive Director Dave Lane, said, “The reason we needed it located within the city of Idaho Falls was so that we could take advantage of the water and sewer infrastructure that’s available through the city.

A construction date hasn’t been set and an official name for the events center is still in the works.
