The following is a news release and mug shot from the Power County Sheriff’s Office.

POWER COUNTY — On Tuesday, Oct. 3, deputies from the Power County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1718 Falcon Circle North in the Big Sky area of Power County.

According to statements made by witnesses, Layne R. Leavitt went to the residence and banged on the door. Once the resident opened the door, Leavitt allegedly hit him in the face, pulled out a pistol, pointed it at the victim’s head and forced his way into the residence.

The victim told deputies that Leavitt threatened to shoot him in the head while pushing him down the hallway and into a back bedroom where the victim’s minor child was playing.

Leavitt then left the residence and returned to his home at 1886 Falcon Circle West where deputies located and arrested him.

Leavitt is being held in the Power County Jail on charges of burglary, aggravated assault and injury to a child, all felonies.

He is also being charged with two misdemeanors: battery and carrying a firearm concealed under the influence of alcohol.
