IDAHO FALLS — A registered sex offender living in Idaho Falls is accused of forcing a teenage relative to have sex with him multiple times.

Deon Ellington Waynewood, 38, is charged with four counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16. If convicted, Waynewood could spend up to life in prison. He was convicted in Colorado for sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust in 2000.

Investigators with the Idaho Falls Police Department were contacted Dec. 13 to meet with a girl who said she was having panic attacks because of the alleged sexual abuse. She said Waynewood forced her to have sex between 10 and 100 times, according to court documents obtained by EastIdahoNews.com.

She said the first incident happened sometime in January 2017. Waynewood was helping her stretch when he proceeded to force her to have sex. The victim claims she pushed Waynewood away and didn’t tell anyone, hoping it wouldn’t happen again, according to court documents.

In Sept. 2017, the victim alleges Waynewood grabbed her by the throat while pinning her down. He then proceeded to remove her pants and touch her inappropriately.

As the victim started to cry, “Deon stopped, and he tapped her knee and said that he was just kidding and to have a nice day,” according to court documents.

Sometime around Oct. 22, the victim said Waynewood gave her a gas card to use for a road trip she was about to take but told her she had to pay him back and followed her as she went to her bedroom.

“He told her what she had to do to pay him back and then went behind her and put his hands around her waist,” according to court documents.

Waynewood allegedly proceeded to force the victim to have sex with him. The victim claims the incidents could happen anytime in either in his or her bedroom.

The victim said the most recent incident was on Dec. 6, when she was sick, and Waynewood brought marijuana for her to smoke to help her feel better. The two smoked the weed, and the victim claims she was high. She claims Waynewood gave her a pill which she took, claiming it would help with the nausea. Then Waynewood allegedly performed oral sex on the victim. She said she was trying to get away, but Waynewood kept pushing her head back, according to court documents.

From the most recent incident, investigators obtained DNA from the victim’s clothing and sheets and found traces of bodily fluids. A DNA sample was taken from Waynewood on Feb. 20.

On Jan. 10, police requested a warrant to arrest Waynewood for failing to register as a sex offender. The detective requested this warrant claiming Waynewood did not provide his new address within two days, a requirement for the sex offender registry. Court documents do not specify if this request was ever granted.

Waynewood’s criminal history in Bonneville County is extensive. In 2016 he violated a no-contact order. In 2015 he was convicted of enticement of children and unlawful access to schoolchildren, all misdemeanors. As part of his probation he was supposed to have no contact with minors at the time of the first alleged lewd conduct, according to court documents.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 7. Waynewood remains in the Bonneville County Jail on $500,000 bail.
