Idaho Falls firefighters will be doing controlled burns to prevent wildfires

The following is a news release from the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

IDAHO FALLS — On Thursday, June 11, the Idaho Falls Fire Department will be conducting a controlled burn near the intersection of Bone Road and Lincoln Road. Motorists should use caution and watch for personnel and equipment in the southbound lane of Bone Road.

The burn is a wildfire prevention measure to reduce fuels such as sagebrush and tumbleweeds that are heavily impacting the fence line. This is a combined effort of the IFFD, Bonneville County Fire Protection District #1 and the Henry’s Creek Rangeland Fire Protection Association (RFPA).Fuels Reduction Burn2

Firefighters will be burning from the intersection of Bone Road and Lincoln Road, one mile south to 9th South. There will be road signs marking the area of the burn.

Barring unforeseen issues or adverse weather conditions, the burn will begin at 10 a.m. and should be complete by 4 p.m.
