REXBURG — A Rexburg man is accused of threatening to kill two children with a shotgun last week.

Aaron Isaac Bell, 44, is charged with two felony counts of injury to a child after an investigation by the Rexburg Police Department. According to charging documents, Bell is accused of threatening to kill two children with a shotgun, causing them mental suffering.

On Thursday, police arrived at a mobile home on South 5th West for the report of a domestic disturbance, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdahoNews.com. Officers wrote in their report that they heard a man’s loud voice from inside the home and knocked on the door. Bell answered and told police they could not come in.

Two kids behind Bell began telling the officer to come inside because they were scared. A woman came to the door and stepped outside to speak with police as officers kept the door cracked open.

The woman told police Bell allegedly threatened to shoot and kill her. She said two days earlier, he held a shotgun to her head and allegedly said he was going to take her life.

Investigators served a search warrant on the home and found marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare removed the kids from the home. A caseworker then called police saying that the children told her Bell threatened them on multiple occasions.

Police received a warrant for Bell’s arrest and took him into custody on Saturday. He made an initial appearance Monday where Magistrate Judge David Hunt sent his bail at $50,000. Bell remains held in the Madison County Jail. These are not the only violent accusations Bell has faced. In 2018, he pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace after a woman accused him of holding up what she believed to be a knife and threatening to slice her throat. A judge placed Bell on a year of probation.

Although Bell is accused of new crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 14.
