IDAHO FALLS — Frank VanderSloot announced Thursday that the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration will return this year on July 3 following its cancellation in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Ball Ventures is hosting the celebration once again at Snake River Landing, which features a 110-acre outdoor amphitheater created and designed exclusively for this show. The largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi lasts for 31 minutes and is synchronized to a live broadcast on KLCE Classy 97.3 FM.

VanderSloot sat down with EastIdahoNews.com reporter Nate Eaton to talk about the historic fireworks presentation, what people can expect and why it’s being held on July 3 rather than Independence Day.
