POCATELLO — According to police, a man held a woman captive for hours and threatening to shoot her. He has been charged with multiple felonies.

Perry Seven Parris, 27, faces felonies for second-degree kidnapping, aggravated assault and two counts of battery, court records show. He has also been charged with a misdemeanor for intentional destruction of a telecommunication instrument.

Pocatello police received a call reporting an assault around 6:15 a.m. on Oct. 16, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The caller said a woman came to him for help, claiming she had been held captive through the night and had been injured.

Officers met with the victim, who told them Parris kept her locked inside her home. She said she tried to run away approximately four times, but was unsuccessful. The incident began around 9 p.m. and she was finally able to escape around 5 a.m., but Parris reportedly chased her as she escaped the home.

“He threatened me all night and he threatened me with his gun,” the victim told police, according to the affidavit.

The victim told police Parris took her phone away from her and, along with several threats, hurt her hand. Police reports describe the middle finger on the victim’s right hand as being swollen and scratched. Reports also note a bruise on the victim’s leg, which she said was from Parris.

Officers tried calling Parris multiple times, but did not get an answer or return call.

Police reports do not detail how officers found Parris and whether there was any further incident when he was arrested. Court records do show, however, that Parris was taken into custody and booked at Bannock County Jail. He was released on a $25,000 bond with a no-contact order on Oct. 18.

Court records also show Parris faces misdemeanor charges for driving under the influence, driving with an opened alcohol container and carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated, related to an Oct. 3 incident.

Though Parris has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.

If he is found guilty, Parris could face more than 50 years in prison.

A preliminary hearing in this matter has been waived and the charges bound over to District Court. A District Court arraignment hearing has yet to be scheduled.
