AMMON — Firefighters responded to a local movie theater Friday morning after an employee reported that one of the screening rooms was filling with smoke.

Bonneville County Fire District No. 1 responded to the Regal Edwards Grand Teton cinema on Friday at approximately 10:30 a.m. for what was initially a call for a structure fire.

Fire Chief Jon Molbert tells EastIdahoNews.com that after an investigation at the theater, located at 2707 S. 25th East, firefighters discovered a heater in a utility closet was producing mechanical smoke, which filled the screening room.

Molbert says the heater had a burnt-out motor and had seized by the time firefighters arrived on scene. There was no damage to the theater, and nobody was injured.
