IDAHO FALLS — We asked our readers to tell us about the best April Fool’s prank they’ve ever been a part of, or fell victim to, and boy did they deliver.

Here is a list of our favorite April Fools’ pranks from around eastern Idaho, and straight from our comment section.

Hundreds of locals were fooled this morning when a white banner appeared on a building stating “Trader Joe’s, Coming Soon! Winter of 2026, Scan the QR Code to apply.”

Unfortunately, when you scan the QR code, you quickly realize…you have been rick-rolled.

Arresting in style

The Rexburg Police Department posted that they would be switching their entire patrol vehicle fleet to “old school Crown Vics.”

“We think they are pretty cool! But the downside is that all 911 callers will now face a $250 fee for patrol vehicle maintenance to cover used parts on Facebook Marketplace to make sure the patrol vehicles can actually respond to your emergencies,” says the post. “Happy April 1st!”

The kitchen sink

“One of my favorite fools was from years ago:

My friend started yelling for her husband to “come quickly!…There’s a leak under the kitchen sink!”

“HURRY HURRY!”

He came running!

She had put a (literal) leek under the sink! A very large green onion-looking vegetable.”

Bye bye splash pad!

“Yes, I got fooled by the City of Ammon page saying they were taking down the splash pad lol. I hadn’t had any coffee yet ok??”

-Robyn Sanow Nichols

4. Puppies! Just Kidding!

“My in-laws came in excitedly yelling to wake up my husband (when he was a kid) that the dog had puppies last night. He went tearing through the house to realize/remember halfway there, that their dog was indeed a boy.”

– Maria Trevino

Oh deer!

The Madison County Sheriff’s office claimed its deputies would soon begin focusing on their working relationship with the local deer.

“We’ve received multiple complaints about deer crossing in unsafe areas,” says the post. “Starting today, deputies will be working with local deer to encourage them to use designated crosswalks only. We appreciate your patience as we coordinate this effort. #AprilFools #WildlifeUnit.”

“Last year, my kids started freaking out and yelling for me to hurry and come to the bathroom.

My youngest screamed, “Mom! The toilet is SMOKING!!!”

I forgot what day it was and all I could think was “Great…. what expensive fix will we have to cover?”

I have to admit, it was a good one 😏.”

THIS IS FINE!!!

“A coworker put 300 mini dumpster fires around the classroom. It’s been a rough school year. 🤣🤣🤣”

A good way to get fired

“My old coworker put a Post-it note on the bottom of the boss’s computer mouse, so his computer stopped responding to his mouse movements. He had a meltdown, then no one wanted to go in there and remove the post it, but very funny indeed! LOL!”

No more pizza??

A local favorite pizza joint, Pie Hole, posted that they would no longer be serving pizza, only tacos. To the dismay of some, and the potential happiness of others?

Nate Eaton LOVES seafood!

Last but not least, this year, EastIdahoNews.com reporter Kaitlyn Hart decided to pull a fun little prank on the one and only, Nate Eaton.

Thanks to everyone who sent in a prank email with delicious-looking seafood, the staff was very entertained all day as Nate tried to figure out what was going on!

Sorry Nate!
