IDAHO FALLS — A woman who stole at least $2,500 from a bank where she was working will serve four years on probation.
Sierra Paige Snarr, 23, was sentenced last week by District Judge Dane H. Watkins Jr. on one felony count of larceny. Snarr also received a suspended prison sentence of four and a half years, 180 days of discretionary jail time and community service.
Snarr admitted to her supervisors that she stole money from Wells Fargo on 17th Street and Holmes Avenue on Dec. 1, 2016, according to court documents. She was confronted with the fact that her cash drawer had significant sums of money missing since she started working at the bank three months earlier.
The supervisor who confronted her said Snarr apologized and had a written statement where she blamed the theft on her health and mounting bills. Snarr also admitted to falsifying her bank balancing records in an attempt to conceal the theft, documents state.
Snarr told police she would take the money directly from the cash drawer and replace it with money from stolen cash deposits. She said she would take money deposited by The Dollar Tree because they made more than one deposit a day and it would make it more difficult for her to be detected.
Wells Fargo terminated Snarr and bank managers told police they lost at least $2,500 as of result of Snarr’s criminal activity.
According to court records, Snarr was convicted in April 2017 for forgery after committing credit card fraud at The Roadway Inn, her previous employer. She is was found guilty for a felony burglary charge in April 2017.
Snarr’s larceny sentence will be served concurrently with the felony burglary sentence she was given in 2017, according to court documents.
