Woman killed in Idaho County crash

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

On Saturday, May 03, at 11:58 a.m., Idaho State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatality crash on US Highway 12 near milepost 161, approximately one mile west of the Lochsa Lodge, in Idaho County.

A 60-year-old man from Des Moines, Washington, was driving a white 2021 International box truck eastbound on US12. While negotiating a right curve, the driver crossed the double yellow painted barrier line and entered the westbound lane.

A 59-year-old man from Middleton, Idaho, was driving a 2023 Hyundai Palisade westbound on US12. There was a 54-year-old female passenger from Middleton, Idaho, who was riding in the back seat of the Hyundai. The two vehicles collided on the curve.

Air ambulance and local emergency services responded to the scene where the 54-year-old female had succumbed to her injuries. Seatbelts were being worn by everyone involved in the collision.

Traffic on US 12 was blocked in both directions for two hours when one lane was opened for alternating traffic. The crash is still being cleared at this time and will likely continue until tomorrow morning to early afternoon.
