Fireworks fundraisers ignite community spirit in Ashton

ASHTON — The Freedom Street Fest Fireworks Fundraiser, hosted by Imperial Club, brought Ashton one step closer to a spectacular Independence Day fireworks show to go along with the town’s traditional hometown celebration organized by the Ashton Chamber of Commerce.
The May 16 fundraiser, held downtown and chaired by local chiropractor and businessman Brad Rankin of Precision Chiropractic, drew strong support from businesses, community members, and local organizations.
A combined effort between the Freedom Street Fest Fireworks Fundraiser and the North Fremont County Fire District’s “Fill the Boot” campaign brought in $6,800 toward Ashton’s Independence Day fireworks show, just shy of the $7,000 goal.
“I believe in patriotism. I have a passion for the Fourth of July and freedom,” said Rankin. “I want to see Ashton put on a fantastic fireworks show every year.”
Despite competing with state track and softball tournaments and dealing with less-than-ideal weather, the event drew a strong turnout.
“A lot of the community was there,” Rankin said. “I’m so grateful for the people and businesses who came together despite the challenges.”

Under the new ownership of Terry Thames and Donna DeBoer, Kurt and Kaylene Schultz, and Suzelle and Dave Burch, Imperial Club featured live music at the event by local bands “The Green’s” and “Lines and Tines.”
Local businesses and organizations stepped up to provide food and support, including North Fremont Fire District, Precision Chiropractic, Dan’s Plumbing, Big Jud’s, and Frostop Drive-In.
Dave Burch said Imperial Club plans to stay active in the community and will host a live band and street dance, adding to Ashton’s Independence Day festivities this year.
Rankin emphasized that the fundraising efforts are ongoing. People can still donate to Ashton’s Fireworks Fundraiser by scanning the QR code posted on the Facebook pages of Imperial Club, Precision Chiropractics, and Ashton, Idaho Chamber of Commerce.
Bank of Idaho’s Ashton branch is also accepting donations.
A native of Ashton, Rankin expressed his hometown pride: “The community can express their support through events like this. From local businesses to city and county leaders and the people of Ashton, our community is what it’s all about, and it’s wonderful.”
