A Texas based civil investigator who has been investigating the disappearance of DeOrr Kunz Jr. announced Friday that the case is now changing from an “active case status” to a “cold case status.”

Philip Klein issued the following letter and said he will continue to remain on the case but says there are no further credible leads to investigate.

FULL TEXT OF KLEIN’S LETTER:

NEDERLAND, Texas — In November of 2015, KIC Texas agreed to investigate the case of OeOrr Kunz. Jr. who resided in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The young child went missing from a camp ground in Leadore, Idaho in July of 2015. The case was taken Pro Bono for the investigators working hours, however, from the generosity of the community, the investigators travels from around the United States was paid by the wonderful citizens of Idaho and around the country.

To date, KIC Texas has performed over 1,000 hours of investigative time, and over $15,000 in travel expenses and case expenses over and beyond the money donated to our firm by the community for the case.

Today we announce that our case is now changing from an “active case status” to a “cold case status.” Meaning we have no further credible leads that we can investigate to move the case forward.

We want to say that we firmly believe and have zero indication(s) that an animal took the child and we have zero indications of any abduction of the child. Investigators are now left with the evidence given to us by Vernal Kunz, Jessica Mitchell Anderson, Robert “Bob” Walton and Isaac Reinwand as well evidence collected by law enforcemcnt and our team.

We want to say publicly again that we firmly believe that Vernal Kunz, Jessica Mitchell Anderson and Robert “Bob” Walton are suspects in the disappearance, and Isaac Reinwand is a person with “direct knowledge” to the events leading up to and the days post the report of the missing child. All evidence that we have obtained, and evidence that has been reviewed by law enforcement – and the compare of both -clearly indicates to us that Kunz, Anderson and Walton have attempted to deceive and manufacture stories and evidence in this case.

As wc can assume the public and the media has many questions regarding the direction now being taken by our team and we would like to address it today.

First, we are remaining with the case. Second, we will now begin the process of “starting over” and reviewing each and every piece of evidence and interviews once again to ensure that we did not miss anything. And last, we want to explore “secondary areas” in the lower Leadore, Idaho area based upon the master timeline and distance studies we have done.

On a more personal note, our team would like to say thank you for the warm welcome the citizens of Idaho have given us. We are proud to be a part of a team of people that have one common goal – to bring DeOrr Kunz, Jr., home to his resting place.

We want you to know that we have always had hope that we were wrong – that we missed something – or that maybe that there was a chance of some type of abduction. However, we simply do not see any evidence that leads us to that conclusion. And in fact we have been met with nothing but story after story that changes.

We further would like to say that we too are frustrated with this case. We firmly again believe that three people have the answer to this case. Simply put – just tell the truth. Stop making stories up and stop misleading law enforcement and our firm. As well, we call on those close to the suspects to stop enabling them and confront them with their stories.

As we now go through the process of beginning our “cold case review,” we want the public to know that we will not be commenting for awhile. It is our intention to bring even more investigators from around the United States to check our work, to review the evidence, and to give their opinions and ideas on the evidence to our conclusions that this case is now a homicide Case by accident or intent.

We have much work to do – and we want you all to know that we are not giving up on DeOn Kunz, Jr.

Our firm prays for DeOrr, we pray for the missing, and we have faith that the right thing will happen in this case. We ask for the public to pray for us, give law enforcement and our firm the strength to bring the answers in this case.
