New Muppets TV show geared toward adults

MUPPETVILLE — The Muppets are headed back to the small screen in an all-new TV show headed to ABC this fall.

The new show centers around the Muppets and their personal lives. Unlike their old TV show that was a variety program, this one will be shot mockumentary style, a la "Modern Family" or "The Office."

According to the new trailer, the show is a departure from the Muppets' TV show we're use to, but it also has a lot of familiar aspects to it as well. Even though the setting and premise are different, it's chock-full of the self-aware and self-deprecating humor that we've come to love.

According to the trailer, and even a line from Kermit himself, this new show is geared for more of an adult audience. I wouldn't take that to mean the show will be blanketed with off-color humor and double-entendres, but rather that the tone and overall feel is geared more towards adults with its high brow and subtle humor.

The trailer has some great lines and gags and looks like the fresh take on the classic characters could be a lot of fun.

"The Muppets" is set to premiere on ABC this fall.
