IDAHO FALLS — Firefighters rushed to a building fire Thursday night on 1st Street near Planet Doom.

Dispatchers received a call around 11:30 p.m. Kerry Hammon, a spokeswoman for the Idaho Falls Fire Department, says the fire was contained to one room of a vacant building that firefighters often use for drills and training.

But this fire was not part of an exercise and crews are working to determine what caused the blaze. The doors and windows were completed secured when firefighters arrived and there were no individuals found inside or outside the building. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to one room and it did not extend into the roof.

The department does not keep equipment inside the building; however, there were some donated training props, including a couch and a mattress that were destroyed by the fire.

There was no power or gas to the building. Idaho Falls Police Department was also on scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
