IDAHO FALLS — A high-speed pursuit up Interstate 15 on Tuesday ended with two people in custody and a trove of discarded narcotics recovered, according to Idaho State Police.
Around 2 p.m., Idaho Falls Police asked ISP to assist as they attempted to serve a warrant on a vehicle parked at a rest area near milepost 101 in Bingham County. When troopers tried to initiate a traffic stop, police say the driver sped away northbound on I-15.

Spike strips were deployed successfully, but the driver continued fleeing on three flattened tires. The vehicle exited and reentered the interstate at milepost 116, then continued north before taking the Broadway exit in Idaho Falls, running a stoplight and plowing through a ditch before coming to a stop in a nearby parking lot.
Police say the driver jumped out and attempted to run but was quickly caught after a short foot chase. ISP deployed a Taser and took the suspect into custody.
During the chase, troopers reported seeing the driver throw narcotics from the vehicle along the interstate. Those drugs have since been recovered.
The driver now faces multiple charges, including trafficking fentanyl, trafficking methamphetamine, destruction of evidence, felony eluding, and an active warrant out of Bingham County. A female passenger was also arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl.
